심심치 않게 소식은 전해져 왔지만, 한동안은 누구보다도 존 테일러에 대한 관심이 컸던 것 같다. 뉴로틱 아웃사이더스(Neurotic Outsiders)라는 프로젝트 그룹에 가담하며 펑크 록에 매력을 느껴 머리까지 빡빡 밀어 버리며 보였던 열성. 이후 솔로 앨범 발표, 그리고 공식 탈퇴 선언까지...하지만 존 테일러 없이 새 앨범 작업은 마무리 되었고, 이제 듀란 듀란의 신작 Medazzaland 발표를 목전에 두고 있는 상황이다. 아마도 베스트 앨범인 본작이 '89년작인데도 불구하고 다시 선보이는 까닭이 바로 새 앨범에 앞서 듀란 듀란의 과거사를 환기시키고자 하는 의도에서란 생각이 든다. 타이틀 그대로 데뷔 앨범 Duran duran에서부터 '88년 앨범 Big thing에 이르기까지 10년간의 히트곡만을 엄선하여 수록하고 있어, 듀란 듀란의 80년대 인기곡들을 오랜만에 접할 수 있을 것 같다.
