마리오 란자의 영화 중 대표작이라 할 [The Toast Of New Orleans]에서 제목을 따온 이 음반 [The Toast Of Hollywood](주: 여기서 ‘toast’는 ‘특별히 사랑을 받는 사람’을 일컫는 말)는 마리오 란자가 생전에 영화 및 음반 등을 통해 불렀던 노래 및 방송 출연 중 녹음된 음악 등 그의 대표적인 히트작을 대부분 망라하고 있는 베스트 음반이라 할 수 있다.
‘A Tenor At The Movies’라는 타이틀이 붙은 첫 번째 CD는 말 그대로 그가 출연하거나 노래를 했던 영화나 쇼 프로그램 등에서 불려진 노래들을 담은 것으로 주로 오페라 아리아 등을 중심으로 하고 있으며, ‘A Tenor In Love’라는 제목의 두 번째 CD는 마리오 란자의 감미로운 목소리가 빛을 발하는 러브 팝들을 중심으로 모아놓은 것이다. 그간 소개되지 않은 여섯 곡까지 포함된 이 음반의 수록곡을 통해 팝과 클래식의 영역 모두에서 큰 사랑을 받았던 마리오 란자의 음악세계를 살펴 볼 수 있다.
